J-FASHION COMMUNITY EVENTS
CHARITY DRAWING EVENT
ABOUT
We are excited to announce that we are holding a charitable drawing to benefit the Transgender Law Center, a trans-led organization located in Oakland that works towards challenging the legal system to respect the dignity and humanity of transgender and gender nonconforming people.
A list of prizes donated by our wonderful participating brands will be posted soon!
We have two methods of entry for our charitable drawing: 1) you can provide proof of donation to the Transgender Law Center, or 2) share Bay Area Kei’s Instagram Trans & Nonbinary J-Fashion Allyship post. No monetary purchase is necessary to enter or win the drawing.
Submissions are open! Regardless of the entry method you choose, all entries must be submitted no later than February 7th, 2021 at 4:00 PM PST / 7:00 PM EST.
Winners will be chosen via random drawing. We will be announcing our randomly selected winners during the Closing Ceremony on February 7th, so be sure to tune in!
Please note that the drawing is only open to United States residents. It is not open to residents of Alabama, Hawaii, Kansas, New Jersey, and Utah, in compliance with applicable state laws.
ENTRY METHODS
1. Make a Qualifying Donation of $10 or More to the Transgender Law Center
You can obtain one (1) entry to the drawing by making a donation of $10 or more to the Transgender Law Center. You can donate here. After you’ve donated, upload a screenshot of your donation the form below.
The Transgender Law Center is a non-profit organization that changes law, policy, and attitudes so that all people can live safely, authentically, and free from discrimination regardless of their gender identity or expression. We have chosen to support them for this event in order to show support for a local organization that focuses on trans issues. You can learn more about Transgender Law Center at their website.
While we encourage larger donations, you can only obtain one (1) entry by donating, regardless of the size of your donation. Additional or larger donations do not qualify as additional entries. In addition, direct donations to Bay Area Kei are not accepted, and will be immediately refunded. We ask that all participants donate money straight to Transgender Law Center via their website, which can be found here.
2. Share Bay Area Kei’s Trans & Nonbinary J-Fashion Allyship Post

The J-fashion community includes members who identify as trans, genderfluid, or nonbinary, or fall elsewhere on the gender spectrum. Here are some tips on how to make your fellow community members feel welcome in the fashion:
NORMALIZE ASKING FOR PRONOUNS
If you are unsure if what pronouns someone uses - ask! If you do not want to publicly call them out during a meet, ask them in private. Do not ask for “preferred pronouns” - instead, just ask them what pronouns they use. Introduce yourself with your own pronouns when meeting new members of the community.
SPEAK UP FOR YOUR COMM MEMBERS
If you are in a group setting and hear a comm member referred to by the incorrect pronouns, gently remind the speaker of the correct pronouns to use.
USE NON-GENDERED LANGUAGE
...when referring to your community! There are many gender-neutral terms you can use when addressing your comm. Consider - friends, pals, frillies, rufflebutts, J-fashionistas, etc.
