Registration Hours

The Registration Desk is located on the Garden Level at the base of the stairway. We will be open for badge pickup and single-day badge purchases during the following hours:

Need to decompress? Our quiet room is located in the Kosakura Board Room next to the Info Desk. It will be open for attendees who need to sit and take a short break from the action.

Badge Ribbons

New to badge ribbons? These adhesive ribbons are typically decorated with printed art or text and designed to hang off your badge. They can be informative (pronouns, event role, et cetera) or imaginative, letting people know what you’re into. Ribbons are often stacked to create a long chain hanging from the end of your badge.

We will be handing out various event badge ribbons throughout the convention and we encourage attendees to do the same! For more information about how to create or obtain ribbons, see the Ribbon Information page.

Scavenger Hunt

Want to earn some bragging rights? Join our scavenger hunt to earn a special badge ribbon! Come visit the Info Desk for a list of things you need to find around the convention. Once you capture a certain number of items on the list, come back to Info Desk to claim your prize!

Photo Gatherings

We will be hosting several themed group photo opportunities throughout the weekend! Check out the event schedule below for specific gathering times. Attendees should note that each gathering will last for approximately 15 minutes, so plan your schedules accordingly. Photos taken by Bay Area Kei staff may be shared on Bay Area Kei's social media posts and website.

Join us for some fun and games at this meet and greet mixer! No need to prepare, but come ready to actively participate!

Please be on time, as we will not allow attendees to join after doors have closed. Also, event activites will require participants to move around often.

About the host: Thanh has been in the J-fashion scene for almost 15 years as part of the San Diego Lolitas community. She has been involved in projects such as Lolibrary and was an online moderator during the global LiveJournal community era. She enjoys creating opportunities that allow others to make lasting friendships and connections.

Workshop | A Panel About Panels [Except it's a Workshop]

Have you ever wanted to host a panel, but you're unsure of where to begin or if you got that dog in you?
In this hands on workshop, expert panelist Emma/Nycticeivs will teach you the basics of hosting a panel, including: overcoming stage fright, learning how to both organize and present your panel, moderating a panel, important tips for researching and crediting sources, and more.

Optional: Audience members will also have the opportunity to create a quick 5-minute panel and present it to other attendees.

If you’re a doll collector and interested in showing off your dolls while hanging out with other like-minded enthusiasts, come check out The Doll Museum! This event gives attendees the chance to socialize, show off their favorite dolls and take photos. If you don’t have any dolls or can’t bring them to the event, feel free to swing by anyway!

Participants may start setting up their displays starting at 12:00 PM. All types of Japanese fashion dolls, including BJDs, Pullips, Blythes and Dollfies are welcome!

Do you miss your favorite Frilltuber? Find yourself wishing there was more J-fashion content available for binging? Well, you are not alone. Moderately successful plus-sized lolita fashion youtuber Ellie D (FKA Ellie Vyra) will walk you through establishing your own longform content channel and provide tips and encouragement for any valiant soul willing to put themselves out there for the betterment and entertainment of our community.

About the host: Ellie D is a YouTuber known for plus size Lolita fashion brand reviews. Follow her on YouTube here!

Workshop | Kimono Dressing Workshop and Q&A

Hosts: Chihiro (she/her), Yoko (she/her)

Starting with yukata, and moving on to kimono, learn how to put on traditional Japanese garments, from undergarments all the way to tying the obi. We will specifically demonstrate how to tie Nagoya-obi. Afterwards, we will discuss modern kimono styles, which incorporate variations such as lace, belts, and boots, so participants can envision how to dress creatively.


We're looking for volunteers to help model yukata and kimono for our  panel on traditional Japanese garments. No skills required, and clothing  will be provided! Sign up to volunteer here.

About the hosts:
Chihiro and Yoko have both been enjoying kimono culture for over 10 years and in addition to dressing themselves, they both have experience dressing others for formal events. In her free time, Chihiro also enjoys playing shamisen and writing Japanese calligraphy, for which she has a 5-dan rank. Yoko has over 17 years of experience with Japanese tea ceremony and also enjoys sewing kimono in her free time.

Come and enjoy our game lounge! Well-stocked with board games, card games, video games and more, our game masters will help you match up with a fun game and cool group of people to play with! Looking for something a little more solo? We’ll also have puzzles and coloring pages to enjoy by yourself. The game lounge is also home to our Libeary, which is stocked with hard-to-find media related to J-fashion, sewing, crafting, and more. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own games and friends and play together in our lounge.

Harp Performance

Aysha Gomez-Kureishi is a premier San Francisco Bay Area harpist. She performs on her Lyon & Healy Style 23 Gold Premium harp.

Aysha began studying the harp at the age of seven. Her studies began with Sabrina von Lüdinghausen in Germany, where she won a series of youth harp competitions. Her harp studies continued in China and Singapore, where she frequently performed for High Tea at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore. She has performed in France, Germany, China, Singapore, and the US.

Learn how to make pom-poms from yarn, tulle, or other materials, join them nicely to a chain, and attach them to a main accessory, such as the crocheted bear pin from last year's event.
Missed the panel last year? No worries! Bear pin supplies are also available. Can't crochet? Make an all pom-pom version instead!

Bring your creativity and drawing skills for the chance to win prizes and the laughter (or awe) of your peers!
